As the banner above suggests, this page is dedicated to expanding our canon - in every way. This page is sub divided by area and as I add more, I'll add more to this descriptions. For now, you'll find the following categories: Outside the Canon: Readings, and Classicists You Need to Know. I link everything I can for each, but please let me know if I'm missing something! There's a contact form at the bottom of this page to submit an idea that you think should be here. I will, of course, give credit. Items are listed in alphabetical order and I have done my best to give title credit as it is listed on various social media. If you want to be known by another name, please let me know.

Classical Texts
Cornelius Nepos - Writes easy to read biographies in Latin including ones about Hannibal and Hamilcar. Silius Italicus - wrote one of the longest poems in Latin and is considered the "worst" poet. His poem gives unique voice to the Punic Wars in the perspective of the Carthaginians and includes Anna as a river goddess who serves Juno and speaks to Hannibal. |
Medieval Texts
Isidore de Seville - Writes a wonderful bestiary and includes the medieval perspective which can easily be compared to works of the Classical world like Pliny the Elder.
Leo Allatius - A medieval writer whose work is, I believe, largely lost. I was fortunate enough to get notes on a text during my time at the University of Florida.
